Ahh, springtime. Can you smell it? Yes, smell. It’s an amazing and exciting time that fills me with joy despite the extra tissue I have to carry around for sneezing.

And there’s nothing better than an academic town teeming with outdoor activity as the layers of clothing and snow and ice are falling away.

I drove up to Princeton recently and took advantage of the local restaurants, shops, and sunshine.

Of course, a new town means a new bookstore for my project. Enter Labyrinth Books.

How could you not be intrigued by a name like that? I had grand visions of walking in and having all the glorious knowledge of an ivy-league scholar fill my senses and drive my thoughts to profound places. That obviously didn’t happen, but I did get a feeling of schoolgirl giddiness from being in a really cool bookstore.

They even had a Writing Style & Publishing section. Win!

photo 2 (4)I did a few rounds through the store examining the shelves and tables. The lower level houses an area where readings are held and where students can buy textbooks. There was a sidewalk sale, too, celebrating the sunny weather.

photo 3 (2)It’s a pleasant place and seems to get plenty of support from the community. I picked up Emily St. John Mandel’s Station Eleven and a new copy of The Elements of Style.

**Know of a bookstore in the DC area I need to see? Lay it on me!**
